Mach's original post introduces the Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Limited Edition for Hodinkee, a timepiece restricted to just 25 examples. This article delves into the community's initial reactions and detailed observations, providing a comprehensive look at how this exclusive collaboration was received by discerning collectors. Mach's excellent photography offers an invaluable first look at this rare reference.

The L.U.C 1860 reference is a notable offering within the L.U.C collection, distinguished by its focus on classical watchmaking principles and refined aesthetics. This particular model, introduced at Watches and Wonders 2023, represents a continuation of Chopard's commitment to high horology, emphasizing traditional craftsmanship and a discreet presentation. It is recognized for its balanced proportions and the integration of a finely finished movement, reflecting the brand's in-house manufacturing capabilities.
This reference features a case crafted from Lucent Steel, a proprietary alloy, measuring 36.5 mm in diameter. The watch is powered by the L.U.C 96.01-L automatic movement, which is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. This movement is equipped with a micro-rotor and offers a power reserve of approximately 65 hours. The dial is presented in a salmon color, complemented by a sapphire crystal on the front.
Appealing to collectors who value understated design and mechanical integrity, the L.U.C 1860 fits into the brand's lineup as a dress watch with significant horological merit. Its limited production and specific material choices contribute to its appeal among enthusiasts seeking a watch that combines traditional watchmaking with contemporary material science. The model is a testament to Chopard's ongoing development in its L.U.C range.
pretty high number for it. Must be very proud.
I went through the checkout process up to the point of buying the watch and there was no option for a personalized engraving.
but this limited edition leaves me completely cold. I don't warm up to the guilloché pattern on the dial and on the back and I find the color scheme unattractive. I like it that the case is white gold and not steel, and that they have removed the Arabic 12 featured on other models, but I regret that they haven't removed the date window as well. Thanks for the post.
You, mon ami, can always be reliably counted on! Love your consistency!😉
Although I have plenty of watches with dates, sometimes I look at a watch and think NOOOOOOO. 😁
As mentioned by many other people the date is a bit of a head-scratcher. The other thing which bugs me is the shape of the guilloche which reminds me of some montblanc models if you look carefully. All in all a bit underwhelming. The chrono1 LE was also a bit of a let-down. Anyway, good luck to them.
