Friends, we have arrived at the tenth Watch of the Week.  After this one, I feel it is time to take a rest with respect to this series.  My hope in beginning the series of posts was to remind you just how special our PuristS relationship is with Chopard, and how special Chopard watches are.  We will revisit this series of posts at some point in the future, no doubt.  For now, though, it is only fitting that the Chopard Watch of the Week # 10 be the new L.U.C 1963 Chronograph Purists Edition.

We've said much about this watch, and it is detailed extensively in the two posts hyperlinked below, one from MTF and the other from AndrewD. In addition, the sticky post atop the Chopard Forum describes how PuristS may reserve one of the 50 limited edition pieces.  It is worth repeating, though, that this watch truly represents that special relationship we have with Chopard.  It is a vision fulfilled for PuristS and for Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.  With respect to KFS, it fulfills his dream for Chopard to create an L.U.C manual wind chronograph from the ground up -- a dream appropriately fulfilled and celebrated on the 50th anniversary of his family's ownership of Chopard.  For PuristS, it is the answer to the questions that were asked of us at IGOTT II in Las Vegas in 2011 - what would a PuristS chronograph look like, what would it feel like?

That KFS and Chopard have done this -- built this movement and case for us, for PuristS, really means something.  It stands for something real, something pure, apart from the marketing muscle so many manufactures flex every day (Chopard no doubt included). It is one of the many reasons that I am such a fan of Chopard, and of my fellow PuristS.

I cannot wait for mine to deliver.

Best,

CaliforniaJed

The dates keep changing. First it was 2013........ :-) Seriously, it could be before Christmas this year but I'm trying hard to get the early batch in November. Unlike human babies that can be grabbed like Caesar, we have no similar procedure in the watch world. You can imagine that Chopard will not release until perfect for PuristS. With a completely unique and small batch production run of only 50 pieces, the PuristS' no date movement is the rate-limit to homologate and Geneva Seal test. The "

What was the publicly disclosed MSRP of the one with date? I see from the sticky what it was for this one. Thanks!
