In 1987, at the height of his fame, doctors diagnosed him with acute leukemia. The following year, on 14 July 1988 he created the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation, a charity supporting leukemia research.

From July 1996Chopard offered José Carreras the opportunity to create limited-edition watches, the profits of which would go to his Leukemia Foundation.

José Carreras recovered from the disease after undergoing a gruelling treatment involving chemotherapy, radiation therapy and an autologous bone marrow transplant

The DEUTSCHE STAATSOPER BERLIN (1997) gets extra credit, though, for its beautiful, poetic power reserve indicator solution. Cheers Marc

I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert once when I was much younger. And knew the post 2000 pieces but not the ones before - great summary 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

But I agree with you concerning horology, culture and a good cause! Best, Emmanuel

I love it and find the solution adopted very poetic indeed. But the two Liceu Barcelona are very nice too: I just wish I knew what melody is scored on the white gold variant! Thanks to both of you, Filip and Marc! Best, Emmanuel

many more records of other tenors like Corelli, Pavarotti, Domingo than of him... My favorite piece, here, or detail, is the power reserve of the Staatsoper Berlin model: I like it a lot. Thanks for looking! Best, Emmanuel
