Emmanuel, known as quattro on WatchProSite, offers a candid, hands-on review of the Breguet Type XX Chronographe 2075. His detailed observations provide invaluable insights into how a watch's material, design elements, and movement finishing can profoundly impact a collector's perception, even for a highly anticipated release. This article explores Emmanuel's initial disappointment and the community's varied reactions, highlighting critical design considerations for modern luxury tool watches.

The Breguet Type XX reference 2075 represents a specific iteration within the Type XX collection, known for its flyback chronograph function. This particular reference is distinguished by its use of precious metal for the case, setting it apart from the more commonly associated stainless steel versions of the Type XX. It maintains the characteristic design language of the model, including the bi-directional rotating bezel and legible dial layout, while offering a different aesthetic profile through its material choice.
This reference features a case crafted from 18k yellow gold, housing an automatic movement. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, providing durability and scratch resistance. The movement within is designed to offer a practical power reserve, ensuring reliable timekeeping and chronograph operation. Its construction reflects Breguet's commitment to traditional watchmaking techniques combined with functional design.
For collectors, the reference 2075 appeals to those seeking a Type XX with a more luxurious presentation than its steel counterparts. Its gold case offers a distinct character, positioning it as a dressier alternative within the sport-oriented Type XX family. This variant demonstrates the breadth of the Type XX line, catering to different preferences while retaining the core technical attributes of the model.
I hadn't noticed the lugs before. Now that you've drawn my eye to them I can't "unsee" them. Still a nice offering from Breguet and likely to be a commercial success. Thanks for sharing the pics and comments. M4
I could possibly live with those lugs and maybe grow to love them. The gold doesn’t work for me, especially with the white dial. I wonder if there was a blue dial in gold, would I be drawn to it. I do understand what your issue is with the engraved plate on the back.
I will continue to wait for a steel version. It may never come, so I guess I may never get one. We’ll see…
Breguet really tried to do everything right with their latest releases, but unfortunately I was personally convinced neither by this Type XX nor by the Souscription. Best, Emmanuel
How it would look with a blue dial is hard to tell for me. It could be attractive, but I think my overall feeling is that this "type" of watch (pun intended) isn't for me (even if it wore too big on my wrist, I felt much more attracted to the Souscription). Best, Emmanuel
Let's wait and see. Best, Emmanuel
