Clueless_Collector's observation on the surging popularity of blue watches sparks a broad discussion among enthusiasts about this pervasive trend. This article explores the origins and staying power of blue dials, moving beyond recent releases to uncover historical precedents and psychological factors. Readers gain a deeper understanding of why blue has become a dominant color in contemporary horology.

I cannot help but noticed this blue trend becoming stronger.

If I remember correctly, it all seems to kick off in 2016, when Omega came out with the CK2998 and the Master Moonphase Chrono, then we start seeing blue smile

Of course I might be wrong because the 2 famous watches: AP 15202ST and PP 5711 has blue, and especially their P version, more blue.

What comes next is the blue ceramic cases, Blancpain, blue dial PP 5930G, Blue SkyDweller, Chopard LUC PC, MING, Seiko Presage, ceramic dials...

Today, Volker's AP ROO has blue (VERY blue) and luca.rev's Eagle has blue....not a day without blue watches.

Why is blue dial or blue watches popular now? Or they has been that way?

The sky's blue, the ocean's blue, and the most common apparel, I think, jeans, is blue.

Therefore, our eyes and mind is very used and adapted to blue.

Black, white are very popular as well but they are more traditional, do not have that various shade or radiant that blue dials can play.

Once a while, you will get Green, Yellow and Orange but these colors are not going mainstream.

How long can this Blue trend last?

Blue is now the next Black, what will be the next Blue or Black?

Even cars in Automotive pages are Blue today smile

About the Patek Philippe Patek Philippe 5930G-010 Ref. 5930

The Patek Philippe Reference 5930 combines two of the manufacture's highly regarded complications: the World Time and the Chronograph. This reference represents a modern interpretation of a complex horological tradition, integrating a flyback chronograph function with a display of 24 time zones. It is notable for its compact dimensions relative to its complication set, offering a balanced presence on the wrist.

The watch features a white gold case measuring 39.5mm in diameter, housing the self-winding Caliber CH 28-520 HU. This integrated movement provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The case design incorporates classic Patek Philippe elements, with polished and satin-finished surfaces.

Appealing to collectors who appreciate technical complexity and travel-oriented functions, the 5930 builds upon Patek Philippe's history of world time watches, tracing its lineage to earlier models. The integration of the chronograph adds a layer of functionality and horological interest. The reference is offered with a blue dial and is fitted with a leather strap, presenting a cohesive and refined aesthetic.

a limited run for the Japanese market I believe. Yes, the Tresor with the blue enamel dial. Blue is a popular colour and I also fell victim to it's allure with more blues in my collection than any other colour. Cheers fernando

I got curios and thought of my own watches... ironically, today that the theme of the week is the pieces we rarely show here, I found that my only watch with a purely blue dial (Boccadasse has lots of blue, but many other colors as well) is the very first one that I bought! It was summer 2005, when I started getting interested in watches with my poor salary of a postdoctoral fellow, and it's this simple but cute Rolex that I still have to this day:
