In this insightful post from 2013, foversta shares a curated collection of videos from Baselworld, demonstrating how moving images can uniquely convey the intricate mechanics and key functions of complex timepieces. His work highlights the value of visual media in understanding horological innovations, offering a dynamic perspective that static images often cannot capture.
Sometimes, a movie is better than thousand words to explain how a watch works and what are its key functions.
I propose you a selection of movies I shot during the Fair and of course, I will come back later to some of these watches.
So, enter the theatre and let's discover these movies!
The Tourbillon behaviour of Arnaud Tellier's watch:
Do you want to know what is the difference between a Tourbillon and a Carrousel? Just observe this Blancpain!
The Breguet Musicale is now available with new material:
The pocket watch by Bell & Ross was redesigned to take advantage of the view of the 5mn repeater Dubois-Depraz module:
Once you see the Cinema by Konstantin Chaykin, you understand why this watch is amongst the top watches of the Fair!
The fascinating and hypnotizing Echappement Constant by GP, front side:
And back side:
Listen to the GP Minute Repeater Annual Calendar:
The Tourbillon Bi-Axial has a different magic. I love the contrast between the fragile move of the Tourbillon and the powerful design of the watch:
A dead-second hand in a pure mechanical watch is an enjoyable show:
Hopefully, I could shoot the Histoire de Tourbillon 4 movie in better conditions. Enjoy!
The Mondaine Stop2Go proposes us to have a true swiss railroad clock on the wrist. The second hand does a full revolution in 58s and then stops during 2s.
The Magic Machine is not only a beautiful object. It gives the choice to play 2 different tunes.
So, did you understand how Opus XIII works?
The Triad displays a ballet on its dial:
With Rado, future is knocking at our door!
Another strange UFO from Romain Jerome landed on Earth!
I already told you that the Swatch Revolution 51 was maybe the most important watch of the Fair. Here is the watch at play!
I hope that you enjoyed these movies and that they helped you to understand better some of these watches.

Key Points from the Discussion
Videos are particularly effective for showcasing complex mechanisms like the Konstantin Chaykin Cinema and the Mondaine Stop2Go, making their unique functions more understandable than still images.
The Mondaine Stop2Go's unique 58-second revolution with a 2-second pause is a direct replication of Swiss railway clocks, designed to synchronize all clocks at the top of the minute.
The Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement is particularly mesmerizing in video, though some contributors feel GP's overall design language could be less idiosyncratic to achieve broader appeal.
Videos are especially crucial for independent watchmaking, where innovative and sometimes unconventional time displays are best understood through observing their operation.
The ability to visualize complications in action, rather than just reading descriptions, offers a fantastic and often singular opportunity for many enthusiasts to appreciate these creations.

Yes, you set the time by means of your fingertip only ...
You can move the hands with your fingertip, either the minute and/or the hour hand; chronometer accuracy in setting is neither intended nor guaranteed, of xourse. Very nice is the the time zone feature: a swish with the finger tip on the left side of the crystal will only change the hour hand in increments, the minute hand remains. Marcus

Just one word: unmissable post
Thank you, F.X.! I’ve especially appreciated the Konstantin Chaykin Cinema (a complication like this could let the imagination run wild, with unlimited “pièce-de-Cinéma”!) and the Mondaine Stop2Go (so n aïvely swiss!). Ciao, Elio
