MichaelC provides a detailed look at Audemars Piguet's updated standard watch box, received with his new Ref. 15202. He highlights the evolution from the traditional green outer and dark rosewood inner boxes to the new dark green lacquered box, featuring the updated "Audemars Piguet Le Brassus" logo. MichaelC applauds AP's attention to detail, noting how the box design, including its unique clipped angle and redesigned watch pillow, reflects the brand's new boutique aesthetic and enhances the ownership experience.

Still, when spending a lot of money on a watch, it is very reasonable to expect an appropriate box set. AP certainly provides that in my opinion. And with the revisions added to this current set, you get something unique to AP that is certainly attractive enough to set atop a dresser or table. When you lift the outer cardboard box off, peel back the foam layer, and see the beautiful lacquered green wood and AP logo, you know you are about to see something incredibly special inside.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" ref. 15202 is a significant reference within the Royal Oak collection, known for its close adherence to the original 1972 design. It maintains the distinctive slim profile and integrated bracelet that defined the initial Royal Oak, distinguishing it from other Royal Oak models that introduced different sizes or complications. This reference is particularly valued for its historical continuity and minimalist approach to the Royal Oak aesthetic.
This reference features a 39mm case, typically crafted from yellow gold, with a thickness of 8.1mm. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters. Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 2121, a movement known for its slimness and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in blue, complementing the yellow gold case and bracelet.
For collectors, the 15202 represents a direct link to the Royal Oak's origins, appealing to those who prioritize historical accuracy and understated design. Its production run from 2012 to 2019 makes it a sought-after reference among enthusiasts of the "Jumbo" lineage. The combination of its classic dimensions, integrated bracelet, and the Caliber 2121 solidifies its position as a key reference in the Audemars Piguet catalog.
I have mixed feelings on that topic. I think that when you have tow or three watches, it is a satisfaction for the owner to have such a box. But when you have 20, 30 ore more watches, it is just a hell of a problem to stock their boxes. Well, there are worse problems in life, yes. ;) Very nice box, actually. All the best, Nicolas
Certainly I do not... yet :-) Thanks for reading the article.
It may sound stupid but, boxes are important for me when acquiring a watch. Not decisive but a significant element. These wooden boxes (as Patek) are amazingly crafted and this AP looks very nice. So I guess there are no octogonal boxes for RO anymore? Thanks for the presentation Michael. Cheers, Mark
Thanks for giving a taste of that great experience, without having to spend the $$$$$!
We agree on that, and as stated, I think we should expect this quality of packaging with our watches. It has been a while since the leather octagonal box was used. I'll see if I can add some photos of it.
I will look forward to reliving that experience through someone else now!! LOL.
