Fernando's post captures the unexpected allure of a new release, even for a seasoned collector. His initial skepticism about another Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore (ROO) model quickly gives way to temptation upon seeing the Michael Schumacher edition in rose gold. This thread highlights the immediate impact a watch can have in the metal, prompting an unplanned acquisition.
Whilst visiting my AD this morning, predominantly to inquire about the new 15202 (which I was hoping would be my next AP) and why it is taking so long to arrive, I was surprised by the sudden appearance of the M. Schumacher. Not the actual man himself but the new ROO bearing his name.
Frankly speaking, I had grown a little tired of the many versions of the ROO and when the AD said the first two have just arrived and proceeded to show them to me, I was a bit skeptical. One was in Pt. and the other in RG. I inspected and tried them both on and the RG seem to resonate more with me.
I wasn’t in the market for another ROO, having had a few in the past but I was tempted, to say the least. It did look awesome in the metal! What did I do? I left the AD and went round to the corner cafe to sit quietly to have a cup of coffee……………… to calm my nerves and to ponder. However, even to my own surprise, I returned within the hour! So much for resisting!
Some pics.(pls. excuse the poor quality)

Thanks for looking and have a great start to the week!
cheers

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" ref. 15202 is a significant reference within the Royal Oak collection, known for its close adherence to the original 1972 design. It maintains the distinctive slim profile and integrated bracelet that defined the initial Royal Oak, distinguishing it from other Royal Oak models that introduced different sizes or complications. This reference is particularly valued for its historical continuity and minimalist approach to the Royal Oak aesthetic.
This reference features a 39mm case, typically crafted from yellow gold, with a thickness of 8.1mm. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters. Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 2121, a movement known for its slimness and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in blue, complementing the yellow gold case and bracelet.
For collectors, the 15202 represents a direct link to the Royal Oak's origins, appealing to those who prioritize historical accuracy and understated design. Its production run from 2012 to 2019 makes it a sought-after reference among enthusiasts of the "Jumbo" lineage. The combination of its classic dimensions, integrated bracelet, and the Caliber 2121 solidifies its position as a key reference in the Audemars Piguet catalog.
you are quick with your decisions and you have good taste :-) Congrats, it looks very good on your wrist! Oliver
There is nothing better than seeing the watches in the real and making his own opinion! Best, Nicolas
I need your sympathy. My banker or wife will probably kill me! :) Note to self: never, never walk into an AD to kill time. :) Best fernando
PIcking up mine after the race in Interlagos. When I am around your way again we will have to take a dual wrist shot of the RG Schumis! Best, Henry
Looking forward to it. :) You are right about the RG! Best fernando
To kill him before he does. And in this sense, you did well. :) Best, my friend. Nicolas
