September 9, 2012 – New York, NY – For the second consecutive season, Audemars Piguet proudly participated in Michael Bastian's Fashion Week show.   The Spring/Summer 2013 collection presentation held at MADE at Milk Studios was a great occasion for Audemars Piguet to connect its iconic Royal Oak design during the global 40th anniversary to the world of men's fashion.

Audemars Piguet Presents Michael Bastian Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

During New York Fashion Week

Michael Bastian, 2011 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year, delivered an exquisite collection encompassing men's tailored clothing, sportswear, and accessories.  Many of the key looks featured on the runway including the show opener, featured timepieces from the Royal Oak collection.  Michael Bastian even selected to wear a stainless steel Royal Oak Chronograph.

This season originally started out six months ago primarily inspired by the palette of the American Color Field painter Helen Frankenthaler (who died in December 2011), but then took some interesting turns along the way," said Michael Bastian when describing his inspiration for the collection.  "We took a left turn and ended up in the late '70s at a modernist beach house on Fire Island.  This image reminds me of my days of hanging out by the most perfect pool with the team from my first GQ magazine ever in June 1981.  One of our model friends summed up this season perfectly by coining the collection 'a Frankenthaler soaked disco sprinkled pool party that you wouldn't want to miss'.  I like this idea of clothes you would wear on the most perfect day where you wouldn't want to be anywhere else but where you are that moment."     www.michaelbastiannyc.com
