As stated prior, I have a rather small wrist, ~ 16.5cm or ~ 6.5" + or - depending on the humidity. Although I think the 39mm Royal Oak case fits me better, I could not and did not refuse getting a 15407ST in 41mm. The case does wear bigger although it also helps that the bracelet is a but beefier as well which makes up for the thin bracelet of the 15202ST. Have a look at the photos and see for yourself.

About the Audemars Piguet Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15202 YG Ref. 15202

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" ref. 15202 is a significant reference within the Royal Oak collection, known for its close adherence to the original 1972 design. It maintains the distinctive slim profile and integrated bracelet that defined the initial Royal Oak, distinguishing it from other Royal Oak models that introduced different sizes or complications. This reference is particularly valued for its historical continuity and minimalist approach to the Royal Oak aesthetic.

This reference features a 39mm case, typically crafted from yellow gold, with a thickness of 8.1mm. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters. Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 2121, a movement known for its slimness and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in blue, complementing the yellow gold case and bracelet.

For collectors, the 15202 represents a direct link to the Royal Oak's origins, appealing to those who prioritize historical accuracy and understated design. Its production run from 2012 to 2019 makes it a sought-after reference among enthusiasts of the "Jumbo" lineage. The combination of its classic dimensions, integrated bracelet, and the Caliber 2121 solidifies its position as a key reference in the Audemars Piguet catalog.

I'd almost certainly need to go to the 37 or new 34 mm versions. Hoping to try them on at some point!

I always felt that the 39mm case was perfect for the RO. The skeleton version is of course superb but it definitely would not work on my wrist (I tried the 41 mm case already a few times without success ....).

and on the wrist, I don't see it as too big. Maybe I am just mesmerized by the double balance and fail to see the size issue, optical illusion 🤷‍♂️

But more so than small wrists, my main issue is having miniscule hands. Even 38mm dress watches look a bit out of proportion on my wrist because of that.

The thicker bracelet is definitely a good design detail for the costlier open-worked version! I've never owned an AP Royal Oak on a bracelet. Knowing you also have a smaller circumference wrist and that the bracelet fits well on your wrist gives me more confident to try it out.

It is just divine, but on that reference it goes beyond the diameter. The thickness, as you point out, makes that one so special. These 41s should be thicker. It is interesting though, if I knew nothing of this brand and only saw your photos, I would think the difference is more like 3-4mm. Regardless, some real whales you have to enjoy
