Gus7's initial impressions of the Audemars Piguet [Re]Master01 Chronograph offer an invaluable first look at a significant release. His detailed breakdown, captured with live photos from an exclusive AP House event, provides a collector's perspective on how this modern re-edition honors its 1940s inspiration. This article synthesizes community reactions to Gus7's early review, highlighting key discussions around its design, movement, and market positioning.

I know there is another thread on this watch but I thought I would start a new thread with Live Photo’s from tonight. I got to try it at the AP House here in HK and having admired this particular 1940s reference from the book on complicated watches for a while I was over the moon when I saw the announcement of this re-edition earlier this week.

As ever, I believe in seeing first, commenting second. In this case the end result was the wallet talked!

Positives....? Case shape, two tone (amazingly coherent in the flesh), new fly back chrono movement, dial colour, lack of 4.30 date, tear drop lugs, and overall adherence to, but modernised, original piece. I also love the blues hands, the 45 marker and the calf strap. Power reserve is a plus too.

Negatives....? Purists will decry lack of manual movement as well as the size. And possibly the tang buckle which could be better? I’d argue the benefits of the modern movement outweigh these...

It’s not for everyone and I doubt it’s ever for the first time AP buyer, indeed I’d say that AP probably wouldn’t want it to be bought by a first time buyer. However if your familiar with the book ‘Complicated Watches’ and pages 192 and 193 in particular you’ll understand!

Suffice to say I rather like it😉

I think the solid thickness of this watch makes a manual movement obsolete. My only "complaint" is its price, but that is only my subjective view. Congrats to this very interesting piece that you know how to waer: very cool combination!

Yes the price is perhaps a bit steep but I could just about sell my FPJ CB three hander and get this. Everything is relative! One more pic for tonight...

For better understanding of fit what is your wrist size?
