...and drooled over it in Tokyo. A really great-looking watch with a lot of presence. It I recall it was a bit thick, but the dial and hands are fantastic : )
On serious note: that eggshell dial; the 1930s chronograph look; AP's first automatic chronograph movement; all within a package that lasted a decade and is now available unworn full set for 50% of MSRP.
I think I like the brown/tan strap better than the black, even though the numerals are black. It’s making me rethink my, “strap color must match my belt color” theory. This is an elegant reference, no doubt about that.
Sold I t broke find my vacation apartment a long with a couple of other watches
Gentle ribbing aside, I think Tim Mosso spoke for some of us this April when he said that this is: "[A] drop-dead gorgeous watch that, frankly, should still be in production […] with a dial that is so compelling I can’t even imagine how they managed to shelve this and bring about the Code 11:59 in one fell swoop.” www.youtube.com
so many watches have been going nuts pricing wise so i guess relatively not bad, but i remember thinking these were a screaming bargain in the low teens. still not bad at half off. remember trying it on years ago and thinking how nice the dial looked.
