Dr. Tabby's original post from 2020 spotlights Atelier de Chronometrie's (AdC) ambitious split-second chronograph, the AdC 8, a watch notable for its bespoke, hand-finished construction. This piece sparked a lively debate within the community, delving into the nuances of 'handmade' watchmaking and the subjective nature of finishing quality. Dr. Tabby's initial observations and subsequent engagement with the community underscore the enduring relevance of transparency and craftsmanship in independent horology.

I think this watch will be a legend in collector circles for years. Things I love, specifically: -The movement, for not only its finishing (especially the great steelwork, and tasteful combination of finishes), but also for the functional improvements made to the base ebauche (not the least of which is the in-house free-sprung balance). -The case, for not only its proportions but also its execution (high-Palladium WG and great finishing). -The dial, which calls to mind my favorite vintage chrono
Split seconds are my favs. Thanks for sharing!
and the rattrapante, the movement - what not to love actually ?! i wish it was twin counter on the dial but then that is too pedantic isn't it ! gorgeous timepiece ! Best, mahesh.,
Overall a great looking watch
Do you mean that the whole surface is polished, instead of the 45 degree angle on the edge? If I'm wrong, can you explain it?
and it seems a 2 register model would be around 70.000 euros which seems reasonable for a one-off rattrapante chrono with such artisanal work.
