After 40 years of watch collecting, I'm happy to have refined my collection to just 3--my Holy Trinity, the 3 watches that sing to me:

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15500, Rolex Daytona 116520, Rolex Submariner 116610

After re-rationalizing my collection, I've decided that, if I have too many watches, I don't give them enough wrist time, they end up sitting in the watch case, and I'd rather wear them and enjoy them.

Each of these 3 serve a purpose: The APRO will be enjoyed at home and at special evenings out, like black/white tie events. The Daytona will be enjoyed at the office. And I'll enjoy the Sub for travel, sports, and weekend low-profile outings. The wife enjoys a yellow gold Cartier Tank on a custom red alligator strap, which she adores.

I've come a long way on my watch-collecting journey, having owned a Patek Philippe Calatrava, Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, Panerai Luminor, Blancpain Villeret, among countless others. They have all been beautiful watches that I've enjoyed, and they have all contributed to the shaping of my tastes as a collector. I can honestly say that these 3 that I've finally refined down to are the 3 that I am most happy with. These 3 check all the boxes for me in terms of aesthetics, features, and feel on the wrist. I am on cloud 9!

I wish all of you as much bliss in your respective watch-collecting journeys as what my wife and I enjoy! smile

Thanks for sharing. Those three beauties are all you could ever need . I too grow weary of watches sitting, not getting the wrist time they deserve. 4 seems to be a good number for me. Although I recently broke that model and added another. It must feel liberating to have the freedom of choosing between three. And not having the guilt that comes along with the other 2, 4, or [insert number here] not being used. Your post is an inspirational one, and where I strive to be someday. Enjoy!

I picture you a watch brand CEO gathering market intelligence for your future models. I would consider myself a typical watch consumer. My work is in a different industry, so I won't know a hairspring from an escapement, although they do add to the mystery and glamour to me. I fully admit that I am influenced by others' tastes and advertising, but I also feel that the heart, my heart, wants what it wants! To be honest, in the first 30 years of my watch-collecting, I have actually avoided these 3

In a sense, I hope there will be other opportunities for you to acquire and enjoy further references (in my view, this element of "surprise" is one of the beauties of our hobby), but I appreciate your determination to make this your "final watch trio"... Sports chic, versatile, and great on all occasions these days! Cheers.

3 or 4 are very similar, I'd say. I had 4 for the past 2yrs and recently decided to consolidate to 3. Enjoy your beauties!
