BaselWorld 2015 - Arnold & Sons

A&S is continuing with its impressive line of unique watches, each with an original movement, many being modern interpretations of well known historical models.

The TBTE tourbillon with jumping seconds.

The Golden Wheel combines the star wheel display, first seen on 18th century English pocket watches, with jumping seconds.

New dial variants of the super thin tourbillon UTTE (toubillon movement 2.97mm, total watch thicknss 8.34mm).

The Time Pyramid with guilloché movement.

The DSTB with the jumping seconds mechanism on the dial.

The double time zone, double tourbillon DTE.

My favorite in the A&S line, the CTB chronograph.

A prototype of the Constant Force Tourbillon with jumping seconds.

It has actually been quite some number of years since Arnold & Son has been taken over by La Joux Perret and has started their present renaissance. Since that time all their movements are in house and all their watches have in-house movements. The present director of Arnold is one of the most passionate watch collectors I have ever met and you can see that passion in the collection. Although everyone knows that the present Arnold has absolutely nothing to do with their English predecessors o

a development by Richard and Maria Habring? But I agree the current collection is very promising and appealing, and surpassingly clean. I also believe that they still have a (short) way to go to achieve an instantly recognisable ' Arnold & Son' identity, though. "present director of Arnold is one of the most passionate watch collectors I have ever met" - not only this, also key personnel from the parent company La Joux Perret are active PPro members (albeit 'under the radar'). Cheers, Magnus
