The new Chopard flagship store, Singapore – A New Look

Chopard, the world renowned brand for fine timepieces and legendary jewellery collections, takes great pleasure in announcing the opening of its new Singapore flagship boutique at the prominent Ngee Ann City, along the city’s prime Orchard Road shopping belt.

The new 1750 square-feet flagship boutique is modelled after the exquisite Madison Avenue store in New York City, designed by respected French architect, Thierry Despont. It is also the 2nd Chopard boutique in the world to get the new look. Every detail of the new flagship was imagined by Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele who wanted the new boutique to feel like a jewel box. “We want to encourage our customers to discover the many facets in the world of Chopard.”

Thierry Despont who injected this commission with unprecedented impact by creating a spectacular emporium where the drama of diamonds and the fine art of watch-making are cast onto the world stage, set in the vibrant Lion City.

The use of white oak and fine leather for the wall panels, store fixtures and furniture fronts evoke a sense of luxury, warmth and familiarity. Luscious velvet is used for the curtains and upholstery of chairs for a sense of opulence, beautifully complemented by the fireplace made with nickel for an authentic touch.

The interior décor has a modern look that still evokes the comfortable, townhouse atmosphere of the former boutique. Defined areas for High Jewellery, high-end men watches L.U.C and leather accessory collections allow for both privacy and casual browsing. LED screens will be placed in the boutique that will run videos of glamorous events like Cannes Film Festival that Chopard is closely associated with. An in-house customer service team will be on hand too, catering to a client’s needs. Chopard’s new look as an elegant, sensuous, and thoroughly contemporary destination denotes that it is a place to be, and not merely a place to shop.

The watches and jewellery meticulously handcrafted and designed by Chopard are built upon almost 150 years of fine craftsmanship, a perennial fascination with modern technology, and a singular devotion to the world of art. Although there is a contemporary feel to the flagship boutique, the house remains grounded in the Old World tradition.

Thierry Despont is not only a master architect and designer, but he has recently gone public with his work as an artist. He has designed homes for the likes of Bill Gates and Calvin Klein. Based on his idea that Chopard represents a blend of century old family tradition and high-tech creations, he gives his design statement for Chopard:

“The Scheufele family wanted a store that would be very much like a beautiful private home, where one would feel invited to see wondrous objects. The outside of the store looking in is as if one is seeing through large French windows with beautiful draperies. Coming inside, one is greeted by a great fireplace, welcoming wood floors, wood panelling, luxurious and sensuous fabrics, and custom made furniture.”

Chopard’s jewellery collections are universally recognized not only for their beauty but also for their popularity with the cognoscenti. Cannes gleams brightly when the red carpet dazzles with Chopard jewels worn by international celebrities like Elizabeth Hurley, Helen Mirren, Angelina Jolie, Aishwarya Rai, Julianne Moore, and Bar Rafaeli. Signature collections such as Happy Diamonds, Ice Cube, Copacabana, as well as its creative High Jewellery have been featured in every important watch, jewellery and fashion publication in Singapore and around the globe. Now these renowned collections will take up residence in a new flagship boutique at Level One, Ngee Ann City, Singapore.

All Chopard boutiques present the same corporate identity: a very warm, traditional, and cosy feeling with landmarks such as wooden floors and panels, and a fireplace. The new concept will combine modern, sleek lines and retain the “feel” of the Chopard boutiques and key features such as the fireplace and wooden panels, and very soon, Singapore and its global shoppers will be able to experience the new impression in the world of Chopard.
