Presenting what may actually be my ‘exit watch’. Arrived today

What I plan to do is get down to a core ‘collection’ of 4 watches, a tough task to be sure. There really isn’t much out there I’m interested in, but always loved the Quattro since it’s introduction in 2002. The ability to store 9 days of PR in 4 stacked barrels, and still active chronometer certification, is pretty impressive to me. That, and keeping it thin, are all high notes for me. In choosing this watch, it ticks a lot of boxes for me and I was happy to find a brand new example at a dealer in Switzerland.

Limited edition of only 50 in the world
Rose gold with brushed case flanks
‘Fairmined’ ethical gold standard
case designed, gold smelted, and produced in-house
9 day PR
Geneva Seal
8.8mm, nicely thin for this power reserve
43mm diameter. I like larger dressy watches
Date complication
hand engraved caseback
Vertically brushed silver dial with blued hands and indices for excellent contrast
Chopard’s superb alligator straps with alligator lining
In house produced brushed and beveled tang buckle

Last but not least, the confidence I have in Chopard for the friendly and outstanding service I’ve gotten in the past; that means a lot to me.

All-in-all, a superb piece and one that I’ll be happy to enjoy for many years to come

Cheers!
Douglas

...but while the movement is nice, it's awfully small for the case...

True! I hear you both….

It seems the exception and not the norm these days that movements are the appropriate size for a case.

I have a personal calculus that I use on this

and this one being 29mm, slides in just under my limit. I would prefer a 31 or 32mm movement, but I’m fine with it and all other factors being in place outweighed this

😂

Thanks! I have been intentionally looking

for a business casual watch, and think this does the trick indeed. Post-COVID, my dress attire is much more business casual

Open collecting. I have no exit, but i want not collect over 20 peaces. My reason is to give my current collection all the attention possible. Dive deeply in every pore. Watch whisperer. Going to 4 core watches is deeply. I feel guilty i have not acquire ...

I like your collecting philosophy!

I would recommend any of the LUC models, I’ve had three and they’re all excellent

Keep on collecting

Honestly, do not stop collecting watches. Maybe you have watch fatigue. Take a brake and love your hobby.

Congratulations, Douglas!

I‘ve just seen this now, but better late than never. Brilliant LUC you‘ve got yourself. I like the manual wind 9 day movement a lot, and it sure is a very versatile watch that goes from casual to dress watch easily. I like it on the blue canvas strap, too...

Congratulations!

Very envious This is the type of watch that I like very much. Manual wind with 8 days PR and a simple but beautiful dial. Together with COSC, Geneva Seal and swan neck regulator what's there not to like. LUC indeed has many gems in their collection. There...

Congrats!!

I don‘t want to miss to congratulate on this exquisite choice! The dial is amazing and the whole watch a marvel. I enjoy it very much myself - the blued hands together with the dial shine always bring fascination!! Wear it in good health!!!
