Independent certification

This is one of the points I wanted to expand on in my HoMe discussion on independent accreditation and certification:

I think that an independent and robust assessment process can actually drive quality improvement that is apparent to the end customer. And seeing the steps that a watch has to go through to achieve the FQF, particularly the Chronofiable test that literally destroys the watches as it is so rigorous, I think that this is on the right track.

I know that some doubt the independence of the testing, and believe that the process is designed to allow certain manufactures to pass, but this is far from the truth. I believe the FQF process, over several years, has led to an improvement in Chopard watch design and manufacture and I would love to see it extended to the whole Swiss watch industry. Now that would really drive improvement and raise the standard of all products.
