Yet Finissimo is the ultra-thin benchmark

Apr 01, 2023,15:47 PM

Royal oak and Nautilus have just become like commodities, for football players, actors, singers & rappers only, as well as random millionaires.

The sporty bracelet watches League is very crowded and competitive, the Czapek Antarctique has performed well on resale value for instance (for  those who care of), IWC has shown the new Ingenieur wish such a low profile movement ( may i say poor?) that it's laughable, now a Chopard's designer has apparently removed the date from their dials and we look at nice watches as they were some sort of revolutionary improvement and achievement.

Does Finissimo come with too many limited editions?
Likely?
Does the Finissimo get a place on a podium of the aforementioned league?
Extremely likely.

How smart will Chopard be about the new Alpine Eagle 41 XPS and future editions?

Armis asks a great question about other versions. Miranda has already placed this watch in rarefied air with the AP Jumbo and Patek 5711. I very much like it and messaged my dealer Monday morning the moment I saw it. I would never trade my AP Jumbo for it...

Hmm unsure

I think this will maintain being special even with further colors. The 5711 comes in white, green, blue, Tiffany, etc. Still desirable. I am not sure what second hand values will be as chopard not as desired as ap or pp, but that not a concern for me. I s...

Excellent post and points

In terms of quality it certainly is up there with the giants. But can Chopard resist the temptation to keep it within limits is to be seen. AP show great resilience with the Jumbo, the knock on effect was that it raised the desirability of all the range. ...

Microrotor belongs to Chopard's tradition

I guess they try to follow the Czapek success more than any other brands. I see a nice watch improved in aesthetic and mechanics, but any comparison with RO and Nautilus is biased by market value.

This is a difficult situation...

On one side, there is limited production capacity of LUC, always heard about 5~6000 pcs/year. On other side, Chopard is a family business but we hear good things about Mr KFS, wanting just the best for the brand and collectors, not the hype. I hope they c...

Your numbers are way off my friend. I was with KFS and Maxime for several days...the LUC department of Chopard produces around 1000 pieces annually and has done so for the past few years πŸ˜‰

Quality is on par, if not better than their direct competitors as well. And so you know, there is a couple of surprises not yet seen that are game changers IMHO πŸ˜‰πŸ€«πŸ€«πŸ€«

That’s the number from the google gods πŸ˜‚

I sincerely hope so ..

I immediately placed an order for it when I saw few shots in Feb. Have the steel blue version, 8hz grey and this would be my third and hopefully the final one of the AE . Sucker for salmon dials and I hope they would keep it limited supply ..

Thanks for a thought-provoking post Michael, and glad that Chopard has produced one of the highlights of the show! An underrated "Indie with history" (my favorite mix! ;-) that has been working hard and well recently, and is deservedly being recognized.

Will this new Alpine Eagle XPS ever reach Nautilus or Royal Oak status? Obviously impossible to tell at the get-go, but highly unlikely. There's no-one who loves Patek Philippe more than me on this planet, and yet, it is hard to imagine the Nautilus itsel...

I agree...

...I see this in addition to watches like the Jumbo if you already have one.

I really like this watch and hope that Chopard will be able to manage this model well and don’t milk it dry with many different colours dials moving forward.

I do not think it will reach Nautilus or Jumbo status anytime soon purely based on branding. I personally like it more than a 5711. And hopefully Chopard does not go the Lange Odysseus route either by requiring bundling.
