Hive and bees appear hand engraved
Pardon my very badly taken photographs, but the images suggest that the engraving is done by hand. The relative location of the bees are consistent but the following can be observed from the YG 16/1860/2:
a) bees are slighty further away,
b) the edge of the bands on the hive is more curved, and
c) hive door appears wider.

The engraver must have known of the Asian
preference for the "certain life" of 4-3 rather than the 'dead-cert' of 4-4 It is not just the number of bees but also the position, balance and depth of engraving that are fascinating.... Regards, MTF

After some encouragement from Jokoh on Friday night, I made a count on my 2 specimens and they are as follows: 43 bees LUC 16/1860 43 bees LUC 16/1860/2 Regards, yw wong

yw wong, Congratulations! as the first respondee with those models, their Bee Count record is yours. Do you think they are hand engraved or machine stamped? Are there minor differences in the position and shape of your bees ....... or are they identical? ...
