Chopard movements similarities n
KMII,
The performance specifications of similar movements within the Chopard family are similar, not by coincidence but by design.
Even though they may be 'blank paper' designs to start, the customers have the same 'specifications'.
We mostly have the same range of arm and wrist movement for winding efficiency.
We demand the same power reserve minima to allow a weekend of laying the watch at rest. (For a sporty watch, the weekend "rest" may be an oxymoron)
We ask for a date display (or maybe Marketing Department does that).
We choose 4Hz escapement beat (28,800 vph) because that is the current norm as a balance between consistent precision and power reserve.
We ask for robust 'engine' with central winding rotor.
We ask for movements to fit the common case sizes for 'sporty watches'.
Finally, if something ain't broke, don't try to "fix" it.
The tooling and programming are already tested for similar engines so it is not surprising that the CF11 and newer movements are similar.
Regards,
MTF
