Chopard LUC Chrono One - or the truly versatile one

Jul 15, 2018,11:53 AM

The watch was what brought me to Puristspro in the first place, got me exposed to the first Vladding and remains one of the most frequently worn pieces after more than four years of ownership - the sole wrist hogger phase long gone due to further successful advice from fellow Purists wink

It easily works with work attire yet dresses down surprisingly well, too.

Easy to set if one really doesn’t wear it for a while, with the 11.CF movement offering a running seconds reset to zero feature when the crown is pulled out. And the 65h power reserve is good enough if you wear it in rotation with two other watches to make those setting moments rare.

The only aspect holding it back from being truly universally usable is the modest 30m WR rating - not a deal breaker for a chronograph on the dressier side but certainly one when it comes to bringing it into the vicinity of a swimming pool.

Looking forward to many more years with it - although I need to remain vigilant for that to work out. My son is namely taking a worrying interest in it, so I guess he’s the next generation I am taking care of the watch for wink

Have a nice weekend!

I don't know the Chopard brand too well, but of what I do know know this watch is my favorite. Nice photos. Thanks for posting. M4

Thanks a lot, M4!

It’s a very interesting brand IMHO. One of the largest independent ones, with a great long term dedication behind it. They are investing in many areas that don’t make investors happy but build a brand - such as ethical gold, in-house movements (from a tim...

An automatic choice

KMII, I remember your first Chopard watch and appearance here. Of course, I passed on the launch gold model of that first automatic chronograph movement made by L.U.C because I could not read the open-work dial. Later, when they trialed your steel series ...

Thanks for being the early encourager :)

The opinion was universal to go for it and I haven’t regretted it for a second. And while you missed the LUC Chrono One you created another - the Puristspro Edition of the LUC 1963 Chronograph

Thanks a lot MoonWatchMan!

The strap is from Chopard and I am very happy with it. Their custom straps are really nice and get made fairly quickly for a watch manufacturer - two weeks or so from order to delivery with the express service

Great looking watch my friend .

Also love the grey strap , beautiful combo 👌🏻. It will be in good hands after a few years 🙏🏻. What more can a PuristS want then to give some of his watches to the next generation 🤗.

You are fully right, Watchonthewrist :)

It was the watch that got me here and my first ‘nice’ mechanical watch. I have never regretted it Little did I, or my wife then know where this would develop towards
