As a homage but not a caricature, maybe?
We can ask the designer but I venture a hypothesis.
From one century into the next, L.U.C watches have adopted new design motifs viz. the logo font, shorter curved lugs, vertical brushed satin-finish case sides, dauphine fusee (runner rocket) hands etc.
The new motifs include the numeral 12 to balance the date display at 6 o'clock position.
The contemporary style eschews Roman numerals that are maybe too heavy for an ultra thin dress watch.
Just thinking out loud.
