First Cartier

I had been looking for a slim dress watch for some time and while the 38 JLC master ultra thin had been on my list I always thought it would be nice to add a Cartier at some point, which one however had always been a challenge. I have always been in love with CPCP guilloche models, the tortue in pink gold with its breguet hands probably being my favorite, even over the platinum model. I had seen pictures from other members of the now discontinued drive extra flat but had never got a chance to try one until recently. I found a great deal on a pre-owned in steel and I knew as soon as I put it on that there was no turning back. I find it interesting that quite often new designs take a while to really get appreciated, the same happens with cars for example. Anyway I couldn't be happier, there's something special about how wearing a Cartier makes you feel, just like a Panerai does although in a different way, obviously. Yes the movement is tiny (20mm), has a modest power reserve (36-40hrs) and the buckle pin could be a bit sturdier bit none of this matters when the watch is wrapped around your wrist!
