Lutz, thank you so much for your email concerning my Patek v. Breguet
dilema...I actually, sincerely feel better reading your thoughts.
I think you're absolutely right concerning resale value...at the lower
price point and complication the resale market is probably
similar. That been said I think the Breguet dials are just
beautiful. I looked at a WG 5907 that I just loved; it looked as
if it was almost constantly changing colors as the light reflected from
different angles. I also really liked the fact that the Breguet
and accompanying number were placed discretely at the top of the dial
and unobtrusive.
By comparison the PP Calatrava looked almost too clean, almost too
simple...I don't know how to explain it, but the Breguet looked just
decidedly French to me and of an unmistakeable style. I'm really
taken with it. Of course the 3680 is just stunning and I'm
seriously considering it.
I also like the fact that I've not seen very many Breguets offered for
sale on acution sites, or online trading sites. Maybe that's
because people aren't buying as many, or they aren't as well known, or
people just aren't re-selling them. Whatever the case, I think
I'm becoming an enormous fan. Thanks so much again for your
thoughts, they are most appreciated. Speak soon.
By the way, I'll be out of town and probably not near a computer for
the next 8 days but I'm anxious to hear more of everyone's thoughts
upon my return. Have a great week.
Chris.
