...but sometimes limited editions are created just to drive demand for a particular model. In this particular case, however, I have simply no idea of why they made it into a limited edition.

Yes, as far as I know...
...Ref. 3807, the steel Aeronavale Type XX with blue dial, was made as a limited edition in the 90s, but I cannot tell you off the top of my head what the numbers were. Cheers,
