I'm getting closer to taking the plunge on a Breguet and am seeking feedback on different models. In order of cost, here is where my list is narrowed down to with what I see as the pros and cons of each; would love to hear people's thoughts, especailly from the technical side (e.g. time accuracy per year, ease of maintenance, etc):
5920bb Classique Automatique - Pros: Elegance of simplicity, unique guilloche around numbers, very reasonably priced; Cons: no date, no secret signature
5207bb Classique Retrograde - Pros: Elegance of simplicity, reasonably priced, retrograde is a very nice feature artistically speaking; Cons - no date
3700bb Hora Mundi - Pros: World time, date, very cool concept, better looking than competitor layouts (IMHO); Cons: a bit busy, some rumbling about function vs. competitors, have to adjust time for daylight savings delta between US/EU 2x per year.
3130bb Classique Power Reserve - Pros: Elegant, nice complications without being too busy, wonderful guillochage, date; Cons: Moon is interesting, but not necessary, price is getting up there.
5707bb Le Tsar - Pros: everything I want in a watch, elegant, 2nd time zone, date, alarm is nice, guillochage is stupendous, retrograde; Cons: Cost is a bummer.
Some other background is I've been thinking about treating myself for my 40th birthday and I'm up for a promotion, so the Breguet is moving from an interesting idea concept to "why not". I travel internationally a fair bit, so my interest in Breguet stemmed from the Hora Mundi. The anal retentive side of me has trouble spending US$23k on a global time watch that doesn't work during the daylight savings change period when EU/US time is off (and other countries that don't recognize DST). Small complaint for a mechanical design I know, but it bugs me a bit.
Love to hear people's thoughts. Many thanks.
