More live impressions of the new Bathyscaphe Sedna gold ‚Blue‘

On Friday Blancpain have launched another 2020 novelty, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Sedna gold with a blue sunburst dial and a blue ceramic bezel insert with Ceragold markers and numerals. This new version has the reference number 5000-36S40 and I had the opportunity to welcome it for a photo session, so live impressions can be shared with you just in time 😇

Sedna gold is a gold, copper and palladium alloy which stays true to color over time, avoiding the color effects of oxidation. The color is a bit more red and at the same time a bit colder than the usual red gold alloy you find with other Blancpain timepieces like the Fifty Fathoms 5015.

The combination of Sedna gold with a blue sunburst dial and blue ceramic bezel insert is creating a quite extrovert but still classic and timeless character.

The watch is available on a dark blue sailcloth strap (on tang buckle or deployant) or the new style Nato strap without metal keepers on tang buckle.

The new timepiece is of course powered by well-known cal 1315 with 5 days of power reserve, silicon balance-spring, 227 parts and in this case a 18ct gold rotor perfectly matching the case color.

Here are some wrist shots of the Nato strap version. As you can notice from all the photos, the new Bathyscaphe Sedna gold ‚Blue' plays with different light conditions in a beautiful way.

Under artificial light, with the help of the Loupe System light ring, the deep blue dial in combination with the gold hands and markers is emphasised nicely:

I hope you enjoyed the live impressions.

Cheers
Henrik

I only wish the old nato with the lovely gold hardware came with this watch. I imagine wearing a suit with a gold Bathyscaphe on a gold nato would be both unconventional and awesome.
