Craziest marriage or coolest Blancpain ever?

Apr 15, 2010,03:24 AM

Hi. I am a newbie here with a maybe very strange question:

I recently bought a vintage "Blancpain" diver and I wanted to ask you whether you think it is a really crazy marriage or an original Blancpain.

  • This watch obviously has a super compressor case in the standard measure of 36 mm, so I would date it somewhere around 1965. I know that Blancpain produced some super compressor divers during that time, but I definitely have never seen this model before. Has anyone of you seen this before?
  • The movement looks authentic to me (AS 1700 or similar?)
  • The Blancpain engraving on the case back on the other hand does not seem authentic to me. It looks too proper for an engraving done in 1965 and the A's dont have the Blancpain-specific flat top.
  • The hands look like the ones used in the Unver super compressors.
  • Can anyone tell me something about the number engraved on the caseback (35066)

Please give me your advice and knowledge on this beautiful piece. Really appreciate it.

Thanks and best regards

Peter

Welcome to the site. There are some great guys here. I saw the auction of that one. I did not like it. The dial is not marked "swiss" I have never seen the benrus style hands I have owned a compressor Blancpain and nothing looked to be similar That being ...

It is always a pleasure to welcome a FF Fan! I never saw this FF before, so I don't know what to say about it. I fear your doubts are legitim, on this one. Looking forward to hear more from you, Best. Nicolas This message has been edited by amanico on 201...

I can confirm that this is in fact the coolest blancpain ever, I have the same watch but the seconds hand is not red (I’m not sure if mine is correct or your is) I sent it to blancpain Switzerland for a rather expensive service and they informed me that i...

Copy of service documents As per your request

Please find a copy of the service documents, do you still have the watch? Do you have any further information, have you insured yours? ...

Very similar

Good spot Amanco, Your right, I was just excited to find an image of one similar to my authenticated one as I have never seen another one, seems similar in every other way though, perhaps someone has refurbished the dial in the original post one, blancpai...

I think stylistically these two compressor watches have no connection to Blancpain.

The fonts on the dial, bezel and case back are like nothing I have seen before. The painted hands and dial are also unknown. The serial number does not follow the no rad and demo sequence. I just don't have a lot of faith in this watch. Brian

Probably, alas.
