Blancpain Watch from Auction

Hi to all, attended to an Antiquorum auction on the weekend and successfully bidded my first ever Blancpain Flyback Leman Chronograph watch. On the catalogue, it emphasis that on normal Flyback watches, the word "Flyback" is on the dial underneath the word Blancpain, but on this particular watch, it is omitted but no reason stated. Apart from what's on the catalogue, I have done my own research on the internet. On the back of the watch has the following inscription - Happy Birthday P.F. Baumberger, Die Kollegen des VR SMH (translated in English - The Colleagues of the Board of SMH). Case No.13. Mr. Peter F. Baumberger passed away in 2009 and he was at one stage the board of directors of the SMH group, he was a successfully businessman & active in motorsport events, founder of Swiss Ferrari Club & collector of many great classic automobiles. According to Antiquorum, this watch circa 1995, which happens to be Mr. Baumberger 70th birthday, the watch given to him from his colleagues.

The condition of this watch is good with scratches on the original metal strap, it definitely require a major overhaul & lubrication, the flyback function does not work properly but otherwise still keeping time accurately. I have provided two photos, one being the original Cal. F185 Leman Chronograph and the other one extracted from Antiquorum catalogue.

I have collected many Panerai pieces, I hope this Blancpain will not be my first & only. Sharing with readers here, my unusual piece.

BR,

Ian
