Can anyone explain why the Bathyscaphe Chrono 5Hz Flyback is soooo underrated (especially in the beautiful slate grey dial on steel)?
It is horologically one of the two groundbreaking achievements of Blancpain in the modern FF era.
The angular luxury tool style, the not-in-your face style can easily be dressed up or down, and the OEM strap combination variety (I have them all to play with, on my Bathyscaphe collection) is considerable. Activating the chrono underwater is a joy and a privilege that one indulges in, be in the pool or be in the sea. And of course that concentration of lume on those tiny dots has no pair.

I've never encountered a watch with this magnitude of lume.
It seems to barely take any light to "charge" it.

Thickness
To answer your question, I have long considered a Bathy Chrono but the dimensions always push me away at the last moment. The thickness in particular just doesn’t suit me and the overall watch requires larger wrists. These days I prefer more slim designs....
