Audemars Piguet

You are most welcome, and I am sorry for your difficulties.

I owned and enjoyed a forged carbon Alinghi for over a year, wearing it about 5 times a week for that period.  I can honestly say it looked the same after all that wear as the day I received it.

Still, forged carbon seems to be an evolving material for AP.  I am wearing my Trulli today, and IMO, the carbon finish is "crisper" than it was on the Alinghi.  In my own opinion, the material is perfect as a case middle.  Lightweight, scratch resistant, and good looking.  The bezel is more likely to take absorb an impact while wearing than the middle.  But without question, the advantage of the material on the bezel is you will never get hairlines or "swirlies" that appear on traditional metal watches.  So pros and cons.  I never smacked the Alinghi and therefore it always looked great.

It is natural to wonder why the ceramic lies below the carbon on the GP.  Having had one on my wrist many times, I think the look is incredible as executed.  You see that little polished ring below the carbon, and it is alluring.  I don't think the watch would look "as F1" as it does had they been reversed.

I hope you enjoy your splendid timepiece!
