i do like the guilloche dials (made by Metalum) and v distinct as Mon is top of day subdial in contrast to Sun at top of typical Stern made dials. I have one personally and defo up there with Tuscan dials on a 25657.
But taste aside the Clovers are v very different watch : both in terms of presence (much heavier); rarity and distinct case design which Asprey i believe commissioned (not made by Eggly who did 25657 cases); as that was their london silver makers mark in early 90s.
I’ve always found it hard to like the four-leaf clover dial.
Because what I see isn’t a clover but a metal mask covering the dial and I find it brutal. It makes me think of the man in the iron mask. Among the special versions of AP’s classic pc, I prefer the engine turned dials, like the one below. ...
agree not for the faint
took me years to figure out but when i saw in metal i got it - hard to capture on picture. Its imho the most special case version. Particularly when you understand the asprey clover link.
I feel the same way.
And I like it far more than the “clover” which, whatever its significance, which I don’t deny of course, doesn’t appeal to me (just my personal taste, or lack of it).
