I think I'd have them resize a bracelet, esp if it's a new watch

Then the burden is on them to get it right - and I would make sure to count the links before and after the resizing to ensure you get them all back. Especially at the price of AP links. I've had to track down a few for friends who'd lost or misplaced or weren't given them by the dealer. Ouch!
