Step one. Put watch on nightstand on a firm but anti-scratch surface. Step two. Turn off lights. Step three. Climb into bed. Step four. Listen for a mad mechanical watch ticking noise that has been likened to a "mad cricket" chirping.

Well Patrick, it IS fast. The Boutique was not the best environment to listen in - and I always listen to watches; its the reason I couldn't get the Journe DS and the Haldimann H1 out of my head - but it is an interesting sound. Hard to discern any differ... 

The balance wheel is actually not that small. It's actually fairly large, approx. 10 mm in diameter, but it looks small because the case is a monstrous 46mm of platinum or gold. Considering the speed of which this thing turns at, 6HZ, the balance wheel is...  

Thanks for the additional information, Patrick. 10mm is indeed a sizable diameter given the escapement speed. I suspect I could drive to work on the power in those twin barrels. But the balance wheel still feels a little lonely in that space. Having said ... 

If you run out of juice on your way to work, at least you can just wind the watch again! You won't have to get towed because your battery ran out (recent article in the New York Times about an electric car running out of juice is very popular in Silicon V...
