AP never claimed (as far as I know) that forged carbon is scratch or dent resistent.
In fact, they specifically mentioned in a few interviews and verbal discussions that the surface hardness is NOT that high. It all depends on the "filler" (resin binder) used, and proportions, to the carbon fiber/strands. In this sense, not that different...
