Wondering if any of you, who are more familiar with the D Series, might be able to provide any background on this original one - on the back of the case it says "No. 4x" (x replaces a digit so it is in the double digit numbers). Any info would be apprecia...  

impossible to find but totally no demand for them I sold it I was told these didn't sell at all and AP recalled them from the AD to replace the bezel with a steel bezel ... in that case at least they sold

Official reference is 25721. I believe.

If they recalled them to change the bezels, and now they have the QE2 bi-metal out there, I wonder if those that were not recalled are now more interesting to those who like the QE2 look? Bi-metal was out of style for a long time and has recently come bac... 

If you have access to Michael their senior historian he might be able to answer that.
