I finally pulled the trigger on the ROO Beast. This is a strange one for me and it took a long while to get here; as over the years, I have had many opportunities to acquire the 25721ST in its various guises - and certainly at much lower price points - but had never made that decision. In part because there were other priorities and also the ocd in me prefer watches with a balanced dial. I reckoned too that should AP create an integrated chronograph movement and release a new beast, that would really be cool.
Alexey Kutkovoy @quill&pad wrote a fascinating point of view on the watch, (with much nicer photographs for sure) … Gone is the off-center seconds sub-dial, in fact the sub dials were re-arranged and the watch now looks perfect to me.
I appreciate too, the quick bracelet release option of switching out the steel bracelets for rubber and leather/sailcloth straps eventually. I love AP’s bracelets and other than the jumbo, have always sought out conversion kits/deployant buckles/straps to have the ability to change the look of the other ROs, according to the seasons. Love this watch with the rubber straps.
With the 26238ST, it definitely marks an end the quirky ROO “Beast” era. And I wonder, is a perfected icon still an icon?!
