Audemars Piguet – Millenary ref 15350, a closer view

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 13th, 2015-00:26
Inspired by Michael’s Millenary in the Rocky Mountains I went to my local AD to have a look at the Audemars Piguet Millenary reference 15350. The Millenary is another of AP’s lesser known models. The version I saw was the Stainless steel with automatic mo...

The Millenary is an interesting alternative to the eternal RO / ROOs...

Though, not everybody's taste due to the size and the shape of the case. This one is one of my favs from this family. Thanks for this review, Blomman. Best, nicolas

Yes, not for everybody...

But I like the none traditional shape! :) Best Blomman

I recently fell, while visiting my pics, on a Jules Audemars

Which is a beauty... The case is conventional, the dial is original. I agree, off the beaten paths is good! Best, Nicolas

Indeed! That what makes watch collecting so interesting! :) Best Blomman

It is an original and nice watch

This is of course the kind of watch, because of its shape, which will not be everyone's taste. But I often noticed that what is special is also something that can lead to much more appeal. In other words, what is more conservative usually attracts more cu...

Yes, I agree! I think it is a good thing ....

That AP pushes for more models than the RO/ROO. Broaden the brand and hopefully also their fan base! Thank you, Mark. Best Blomman

Thanks for the fine article Blomman.

This Millenary is a very successful design by AP. It evokes feelings of complicated Millenaries that cost 10x as much. It is easy to hear "47mm" and be concerned for this large size. But as you say, it wears very comfortably and much smaller on the wrist ...

I missed that you have this one, Michael!

Very nice! :) Yes, I could also be without the "hole" where you see your own skin... Best Blomman

Actually I do not have this one...

The photos are of a close friend's piece. The Royal Oak is mine.

OK, that explains it! :) [nt]

I consider the 15350 a future classic...

...and it's been on my list of Must Haves for a while now. But for the moment I'll be content with my first generation model, which I like for its obscurity and simplicity. ...

Your first generation is a beautiful piece!

Interesting crown, is it a stone on the crown or solid metal? Best Blomman

Thanks. No stone in the crown on the stainless version...

...which is what mine is, but the gold versions have a sapphire if I remember correctly. The crown's very small. The size looks right for the style of the watch but it's difficult to wind, although as an automatic, winding isn't really much of an issue. I...

The crown doesn't look small....

But to such a wide case it is easy to get fooled by the eye.... Thank you for the additional info. Best Blomman

There is a lot to say about the movement.

 By: foversta : July 13th, 2015-10:52
I'm a proud owner of the Millenary 4101, much more known with the caliber reference than with the catalogue one (15350). The movement is pure magic. It is not an evolution of the 3120, it only shares the automatic winding system. But it has its own freque...

Didn't know that...
