Does Size Really Matter?
I think the size of a watch depends on the wrist of a wearer. Some people have smaller wrists than others and so a 44mm and above watch might look out of place. I am a fan of 'big watches' myself and usually wear 44mm and above . I actually do have a 50mm U boat watch, but the only problem is the larger the watch, the less formal it looks. So if you were to wear a suit , a 50mm or 44mm wouldn't look as appropriate but a 42mm or less, looks more decent.
On the other hand, if you're in a more casual outfit with a 44mm AP and above watch, it's likely to stand out and get you more attention. So the size of a watch could depend on the occasion. Also depending on the brand , sizes slightly vary because a 44mm Hublot Big Bang looks slightly smaller than a 44mm AP Royal Oak , so the sizing of various brands usually vary. I think it all boils down to personal preference, people love big watches and there are those that prefer smaller watches , that is why most brands have different ranges, designs/ models to cater for buyer preferences.
