Hornback fit question . . .

I love AP's hornback straps!!!  That being said, I am concerned about how they fit my small wrist.

The 42mm ROO just barely fits my small wrist.  I previously had an AP hornback strap on a prior ROO and, as I recall, the strap was rather stiff/rigid.  This rigidity caused the strap to project further beyond my wrist before wrapping around my wrist.  In other words, whereas the rubber strap wraps down, around my wrist immediately from the edge of the case, the hornback projects further out and progressively wraps down around my wrist, thus causing a slight gap between the strap and my wrist.  I hope that makes sense.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I was told by AP that the hornback straps actually have some metal inbed in them.

I am about to purchase another strap and, while I love the look of the hornbacks, I am reluctant to buy another one based on the foregoing.  I do not want a gap between the strap and my wrist where the strap leaves the case, and I think a non-hornback gator will eliminate this problem because it is softer and will wrap around my wrist easier.  On the other hand, the non-hornback gator does not look as good.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Craig
