Life is a (Lange) Cabaret (lots of photos)
Greetings to all! I
recently had the opportunity to photograph a good friend's recently-acquired
Cabaret -- in this case, the relatively rare PT version with black dial and
black date background. Under the
tutelage of photographic wizard Ming Thein, I've been trying out some new
techniques, most recently aimed at using combinations of light and depth of
field to create richer images.
Let's start with some fairly conventional views of this
piece:
Moving on to more aggressive use of scattered light to create a sense of depth:
...and then some shots combining targeted lighting and depth of field to highlight specific areas of the dial.
The movement-side shots are all pretty conventional, but do, I think, give a real sense for how nice the German Silver movement looks in the PT case:
Finally, a couple of artsy attempts using a pinpoint light on the crown:
All for now! Hope you enjoyed these -- as always, all comments welcomed.
Best,
Gary G
