Many of these small independent brands need only sell through 10 - 50 watches for a successful launch. If they are all relying on the same client to buy everything, it can be a problem.
If the client base is coming from a larger pool though, a new brand just needs to convince a fraction of a percentage point to fall in love with that particular watch.
From the releases above, none are to my taste visually. In the days before the Independent boom, you could keep track of all of them and slowly come around to an original design. Now it's a bit more like a swiping app. If the design feels off, you move on to the next one. Of the seeming hundred Independent watches released in a year, almost all of them have beautifully finished movements. Maybe 5% will combine a beautiful movement with a design that makes you dream or consider placing an order. I imagine the 5% I gravitate towards will be different from the 5% you choose, and so on.
