Winding the (old) ZW is very different -- much crisper and stiffer -- from winding other Langes that we're used to. It definitely requires more force. Personally, I found this to be delightful because each click feels and sounds quite distinctive. I really enjoy winding it slowly, to experience this. With the power reserve, of course a longer power reserve is always preferable, but anything greater than 30 hours is just fine with me because I'm going to wind the watch every morning when I'm wearing it. For me, the daily morning ritual of winding a manual watch is one of the greatest pleasures of owning it. I wind the Lange 1 every morning when I wear it even though I don't have to. I could see a 36-hour power reserve being problematic if I wore the watch only once every 2-3 days, though. And I am curious how the newer ZWs feel to wind, versus the older ones. I have played with the new ZW Date but didn't wind it.
