G'day,
thanks for sharing and congratulations on such a nice pair!!
And they are in fact so special; the massive silver dials are hand engraved with Guilloche patterns by the same engravers who are in charge for Lange´s famous hand-engraved balance cocks. Now there are not many artisans capable to work on such dials, naturally limiting supply. Therefore the chrono´s represent a very very small number of pieces made and it´s truly a rare sight to see two of them together. Actually the number is that low Lange didn´t even assign a special model code or reference!
The manual labour is visible on close view; no two patterns are the same. And while the dials appear to be quite similar, they are not. Just like Lange´s movement parts, where no two units are identical and even allow to unravel the engraver in charge.
Here´s a close view we´ve seen earlier:
An aspect of the "1815 Chronograph Guilloche" to be particularly noted is these to be likewise understated. While close-up pictures may make believe the Guilloche work to stand out prominently, it´s in fact a watch to fit both casual and formal dress codes (notwithstanding the size, of course). It´s not an overly obvious difference towards regular production models and the very fine engraving really sets it apart, without changing the understated appearance of the 1815 Chronograph.
In fact, a gentleman´s choice!
Cheers,
Peter
