Some connoisseurs for whom it is very important how it feels on the wrist may have a serious weakness for the new one - less top-heavy. Some may be interested in the additional power reserve, some may be interested in the power reserve indication ...
At the end it is a matter of personal priorities and taste. In the past I loved the old one for what it is, but never bought one - for several reasons. If I would buy one today I would probably go for the new one, because it feels more comfortable on my wrist. The latter is VERY important for me.
