The symmetry is not like the standard "6-eater" 1815's or many others of that design... but I don't let it bother me too much.
The common "complaint" is that the Sidestep is the moonphase 1815, only without the moonphase.
There are many examples of watches with this asymmetrical nature... one direct comparison is the Patek 5026:
However, as you'll note in the 5026, the '4' as well as '5' have been "eaten" by the sub-dial.
While I prefer the applied numerals, and chosen font of the Patek... the removal of both numbers not only exacerbates the balance issue, but also makes it more difficult to tell where the '4' and '5' are.
I do find the caliber 204 well executed, but it has always struck me why I'd want an automatic "dress" watch... but that's an entirely different topic.
