Thank you for the review!

I agree with you: the 35.9 mm is a perfect size even these days for a dresswatch, and not only for the chinese people..

Don't forget that Patek dresswatches nowadays have only 37 mm, not too long ago they were 35-36 mm. And the size of the case is not the only one issue: it is very important, what is the size of the bezel, how clean is the dial, the form of the hands, what is the height of the movement etc. etc. And of course: how big is the wrist of the wearer of the watch.

Although I have a quite strong wrist, I find my Jlc Ultra Thin with her only 33.4 mm not too small. Or am I wrong?

Cheers,

Adam

Hands on review of the A.Lange Söhne 35mm Saxonia

 By: foversta : July 14th, 2015-13:56
The restyling at the beginning of year of the Lange & Söhne Saxonia collection brought us a little surprise with the unveiling of the handwind version in a 35mm case, available both in rose and white gold . I must confess that I didn't expect such sig...

An excellent review with superb pics.

I prefer the larger sizes but these smaller diameters make sense as you pointed out. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Babka! It is a way for me to get a broader horizon!

A long time without writing about a small watch. Fx

Thanks for this review.

I agree with you on all points. The 35mm is superb when I tried it on earlier this year, and the watch is harmonious in most ways. I don't have an issue with having to wind it daily, but I would much prefer the sub seconds to be a bit lower. This one just...

Thanks Richard!

Actually, I didn't feel the off-balance due to the starting point: the 37mm watch. And this one looks much better!

Great Watch! [nt]

To be honest, it is not the first watch we had in mind when we left the SIHH but it has a subtle charm... Fx

Thank you!

Great review as always!

It is a nice and discreet dressy watch

a little too small for me but I think there should be all the sizes available as there are as many customers, from 35 or 36 to 44. Each one to choose what suits him. Thanks a lot for the comprehensive review Fx. Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark!

Hi Have to say it looks great & even though its 35mm - it doesn't look lost on your wrist. A very good argument against always going bigger. Cheers JML

Yes you are right.

It was the good surprise even if as I wrote it, I'm used with the 36mm diameter. But the new Saxonia style plays a big role. Thanks! Fx

Based on this great news and the following:

"Lange & Söhne takes advantage of the general trend which comes back to more reasonable sizes for simple and elegant watches" I would like to suggest a reduction of the Richard Lange's diameter to the 39 - 39.5 mm range. ;) Marcelo

Proportionally, yes, but not in absolute numbers.

2 mm for both. :-)

No Adam, you are right.

It is after a matter of taste. I tend to find it a bit too small for me but the most important is that you find it appropriate. And I understand perfectly that you can find this size right for you. And I have even smaller than the 35mm Saxonia! The 34mm S...

the Saxonia Big Date is a real classical, and quite rare! Huge congrats! I like this watch because it has the big date - a contrary to the modern Saxonias - and this is the main feature by the Langes! Yours, Adam

Great review, thank you!

I find that the new design has much more personality than the old one. It would be great if you also review the new Saxonia Automatik. Thank you! Matthias

Adam I think the JLC looks fab on your wrist

And what a watch! Beautiful VC, I like especially the little second, without a circle! Makes the dial much more harmonished! Rose gold? Yours, Adam

It is indeed pure elegance....

 By: Rhyzen : July 17th, 2015-08:03
.... Though I must say Lange is taking a gamble with this one, given the current preference for watches with larger dimensions. Coming from a guy with small wrists, I personally feel 37mm is the minimum.

Because of your review,,,

I have ordered a Saxonia in pink gold for my wife! Thanks for sharing your expertise.

The incredible reduction in MSRP

 By: wisPete : September 8th, 2015-12:21
Dear and experts, I noticed an incredible reduction in MSRP from the 37mm iteration to this iteration. For example, it seems that in RG, the 37mm had a 19,000+ USD price tag, while this version has a $14,800 USD MSRP. May I have your insight on why Lange...

Yes, it is the same caliber.

 By: foversta : September 11th, 2015-14:27
It is also the movement which was used in the first 1815. The new price tag is also due to the change of currency rate between EUR/USD and it is a way for Lange to have an entry level watch at a reasonable price for such quality. Fx
