Record sales at auctions for LANGE 1 in stainless steel and 1815 MOONPHASE

A LANGE 1 in stainless steel changed owners on 13th May 2013 at Christie’s “Important Watches” auction in Geneva at 119,489 Euro (148,500 Swiss francs). A. Lange & Söhne has built a few of these pieces in the mid-1990ies. Case and buckle of this extremely rare timepiece are made of stainless steel, complemented by blued-steel hands. The movement and its functions are the same as in the regular LANGE 1 with the manufacture Calibre L901.0.

The day before, on 12th May 2013, watch collectors purchased two models of the 1815 MOONPHASE in pink gold, reference 231.031, in an auction at Antiquorum which took place in Geneva as well. The moon-phase of this watch has been calculated so accurately that it will deviate from the moon’s actual orbit by only one day after 1,058 years of uninterrupted operation.

Presented by A. Lange & Söhne in 2000, the edition was limited to 250 watches. Exemplars with the limited edition numbers 4/250 and 113/250 were now auctioned at 30,215 and 29,208 Euro (37,500 and 36,250 Swiss francs).
