I sometimes found that the date on my Patek........
5140 was difficult to read,especially when the date got into the 20's.
But at the same time, I have to say that I found the dials on the L&S a bit to small, especially the leap year indicator.
Saying all of that, in hindsight I would probably now choice the L&S.
For the big date, the movement, & larger size
